Winter Blanket Program

Back

In MWO’s Winter Blanket Program, warmth becomes a gift, transforming chilly nights into comforting embraces. As temperatures plummet, our initiative blankets communities with compassion, distributing winter essentials to those in need. Each blanket not only provides physical warmth but also kindles hope, reminding recipients that they are not alone in the cold. MWO’s commitment to fostering resilience and community strength shines through the Winter Blanket Program, a testament to the power of generosity in combating the chill of winter. Together, we wrap our communities in a mantle of care, ensuring that no one faces the cold alone.

Typically, winter commences in November and extends through February. The northerly winds occasionally usher in chilly temperatures, dipping to around 2/3 degrees Celsius at night. Residents in this region frequently lack access to blankets or warm attire to shield themselves from the harsh cold. Many resort to gathering around straw fires for warmth. The impoverished in slum areas find themselves particularly vulnerable, with elders and children enduring the harshest effects of the cold.

The Main Target of this Blanket Distribution Program is:

1. To reduce the suffering of Children, young girls old women, and men who suffer a lot from the extreme cold in the winter season.

2. To attain Allah’s blessings through serving suffering humanity.

3. To share the warm love to the Rohingya Refugees as they are our main target.

There is a man named Sumon Miah who is 60 years old. There are 5 people living together. His wife died by corona (Covid-19) last year. They do not have any person who can take the responsibilities of them. We met him on 10th September 2021.

The CEO of MWO has gone to him and the old man cried to him with saying that It would not be possible for them to survive if he would not help her. ‘They will survive if and only if anybody helps them with the warm clothes’- he added. He told us that they do not have that capacity to buy any warm clothes and they lost their hope of surviving in this winter.
